“Do to others as you would have them do to you.”
I read the news with a heavy heart most mornings. So much hate in the world. So much prejudice. Today I went out on my morning walk and asked God what I can do to make sure that I am part of the solution, not part of the problem. As the sun warmed the cold earth, God put these words in my heart: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
The Golden Rule. We’ve heard it since we were children. But how many of us *really* practice it? How many of us, deep down, understand that every person has the same needs, wants, and desires that we have? How many of us fully understand that we are all God’s children? We’ve all been thought of by God long before He called us into existence. We are all that amazingly special to Him.
Let’s stop seeing each other in terms of color. Race. Sexuality. Gender. Religion. Politics. Let’s see each other as a reflection of ourself—God’s child—and treat each other the same way we want to be treated; with love, kindness, and respect.
Jesus commanded us to love one another. How are you showing love to others?
