“In your eyes, the light the heat, I am complete.”
~ Peter Gabriel
All afternoon I walked the streets of Nevada City, exploring the shops lining the heart of the little town. So much history is etched on the dusty bricks under my feet. Thousands had rushed here to find their fortune in gold over a hundred years ago. If you stand quietly enough, you can feel the spirit of their hopes and dreams still alive. It’s a palpable sense of possibility.
I walk on, passing tourists and locals alike, each one with their own dreams of fortune for the future. I’m struck by the thread that runs through all of our lives—the longing for love, happiness, good health and financial security. I look at the faces of everyone I meet and I see my own story in the eyes looking back at me. I see, too, the Creator. I smile at everyone, smiling at God inside of them.
How we treat one another is how we treat God. That fact is not lost on me. My smile widens as I walk among people just like me, each of us with the spark of God igniting our furnace of life.
The God in me sees the God in you. Namaste.
