I opened the umbrella in my garden and sat in its shade trying to beat the heat. I didn’t say a word to God but instead observed His handiwork. I thought the flowers were His most remarkable work until the ruby-throated hummingbird hovered nearby. She was exquisite. The yellow squash blossoms, their form and shape artistically designed, were exceptional, too.
A blue jay flew in and landed on the hanging strawberry basked only a few feet away from me. She pulled the straw coir from the basket to line her nest. I sat still and locked eyes with her until she flew away, straw dangling from her beak. I couldn’t help but say, “Wow!”
A cool breeze blew into the garden. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the gift, the miracle of His creation, and I said, “Thank you.”
