“For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible…”
We can’t fully understand God. How could we? Our brains aren’t equipped for that. But we can know His amazing creation! We step outside and we feel the warmth of the sun, which is 92,955,807 miles away. We hear the sounds of songbirds—they’ve learned to sing the same way we’ve learned to speak—through imitation. We greet our friends and neighbors, who are made up of the very same stardust that we are made of. Invisible neutrinos, about 100 trillion of them, pass through our bodies every second. And inside our skulls, our brain is quivering, adding and pruning connections, all on its own. So many complex systems and things working together! Yes, God’s creation is incredible.
God gave us a wonderful world in which to live. However, He didn’t make everything for us, He made everything for Himself. We are to mirror back to God, His creation. We do that best by waking up every morning and handing our lives over to Him. We don’t rely on our understanding throughout the day, we rely on God’s wisdom (Proverbs 3:5). We go about our lives with Christ’s important commandment at the heart of all we think, say and do: love one another (John 13:34). We live with gratitude in and for all circumstances in our lives (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
We humble ourselves before God. We bow down to our Creator. We give thanks for our lives. We go about our day, appreciating the complexity of life, yet the simplicity of it all. Our God is an awesome God!
